I am a PM fan myself, but am only collecting the PM historical dolls. I've done pretty good and only have Kirsten (in the process) and Josefina left.
As far as neck strings vs. plastic ties, I like the neck strings. None of my girls have had to have surgery, but one did have to get a bath, so the neck strnigs made it much easier to remove her head. The only dolls I have with zip-ties are my non-AG dolls, and they are also my "skinny mini" dolls. Felicity's neck strings were cut very short by my little sister and will be reaplaced one of these days. Molly's are still long, but I have kept them tied in a bow at the back of her neck so they stay out of the way.
As far as they chubbines goes, I saw a big differnece between Jess and my PM girls; she is so much smaller. Her meet dress fit Traveling Ann (a PM AGT#7) just fine though, so that was good. Our Generation clothes fit better on Jess than my PM girls due to the chubiness factor.
All in all I love all of my dolls and think the differences between them are okay.
